Ty believes psychotherapy is less about “fixing” individuals and more about creating space to understand themselves, their relationships, and the experiences that have shaped who they are. His approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection—being genuinely seen, met with curiosity rather than judgment, and given space to explore the complicated and often contradictory parts of being human.
Before entering the field of psychotherapy, Ty spent more than nine years as a tattoo artist, an experience that continues to shape how he thinks about healing and transformation. He sees parallels between tattooing and therapy: both ask us to be intentional about what we carry, sit with discomfort, and trust a process that requires time and care. For Ty, healing is rarely about erasing what came before, but about integrating those experiences into the larger story of who we are.
Ty approaches therapy collaboratively and relationally, believing that therapy is not something done to a person, but something built with them. His work is informed by relational psychodynamic, attachment, trauma-informed, and existential perspectives, with particular interest in trauma, grief and loss, identity development, neurodivergence, and the ways our relationships and experiences shape our sense of self.
Above all, Ty hopes to create a space where clients can bring their full and complex selves without needing to have everything figured out. His goal is to support clients in developing a more compassionate, authentic, and meaningful relationship with themselves and the world around them.

The first step to beginning care at the Parent & Family Wellness Center is scheduling an intake appointment with one of our intake clinicians. During this appointment, they will take time to better understand your needs, goals, preferences, and areas of support so they can thoughtfully help match you with the best-fit therapist.
If you feel especially drawn to Ty, you are always welcome to mention that during your intake appointment. If appropriate and availability allows, we will always do our best to honor those preferences.
We offer both in-person therapy in Boulder and virtual therapy throughout Colorado.
