Shauna Gauthier is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington with over a decade of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through trauma, life transitions, and relational healing.

Shauna specializes in:

  • trauma and PTSD

  • EMDR therapy

  • sexuality and intimacy concerns

  • interpersonal and relationship challenges

  • anxiety and depression

  • grief and loss

  • infertility support

  • perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)

  • parenting transitions

  • birth trauma

  • attachment and family systems work

Shauna takes a trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approach to therapy. She works collaboratively with clients to create an individualized treatment experience that integrates evidence-based interventions while honoring each person’s unique story, identity, relationships, and lived experiences. She is also trained in EMDR and incorporates this modality when appropriate.

As a clinician deeply committed to social justice and systemic awareness, Shauna recognizes the impact of culture, privilege, racism, heteronormativity, gender binarism, ableism, oppression, classism, and ageism on mental health and overall well-being. These perspectives are thoughtfully woven into her work to help clients better understand themselves, identify strengths, and move toward healing in meaningful and sustainable ways.

In addition to her clinical practice, Shauna has served as an adjunct faculty instructor since 2021, mentoring graduate students in clinical skills, trauma assessment and treatment, and family systems theory. She has also contributed to the development of post-graduate clinician education and professional development opportunities.

Before becoming a therapist, Shauna spent years working within the nonprofit sector in both domestic and international settings focused on psychosocial education and community development. These experiences deepened her understanding of trauma, resilience, and the systemic barriers that impact thriving and wellness.

Outside of her clinical work, Shauna enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, enjoying good food, and attending live music and performing arts events. She values connection, creativity, and the healing power of shared human experiences.
