She, Her, Hers

Individual Psychotherapy fee $208. Couples fee $230.

Shauna Gauthier is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington, with over a decade of clinical experience. She specializes in trauma-informed care for individuals, couples, and families, addressing issues such as trauma, sexuality and intimacy, interpersonal relationships, grief, anxiety, and depression. Shauna also has extensive experience supporting clients through infertility, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), parenting transitions, and birth trauma.

Using a trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approach, Shauna collaborates with clients to integrate evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual’s therapeutic journey. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which she incorporates as appropriate. As an advocate for social justice, Shauna recognizes the impact of culture, privilege, racism, heteronormativity, gender binarism, ableism, oppression, classism, and ageism on individual and collective development. These factors are central to her work, helping clients identify goals and strengths in a holistic, meaningful way.

In addition to her clinical practice, Shauna has served as an adjunct faculty instructor since 2021, mentoring and training graduate students in clinical skills, trauma assessment and treatment, and family systems theory. Her role in higher education extends beyond the classroom, where she has contributed to the development of post-graduate clinician education and professional development opportunities.

Shauna’s earlier professional years were spent in the nonprofit sector, contributing to psychosocial education, community development, and various projects both domestically and internationally. This experience deepened her understanding of trauma and the systemic barriers to thriving and well-being. Her passion for global mental health and social justice continues to inform her therapeutic work.

Outside of her professional life, Shauna enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, savoring good food, and attending live music and performing arts events. She values the experience of collective effervescence and finds inspiration in shared moments of connection and creativity.
