Johanna Black is a senior psychotherapist serving individuals, couples, children, and families in Boulder, Colorado. With more than sixteen years of experience supporting children and families across healthcare, school, community, and home-based settings, Johanna brings a deeply compassionate, relational, and developmentally informed approach to therapy.

Johanna’s work is rooted in psychodynamic theory and a mindfulness-based, contemplative approach to care. She practices through a client-centered and relational lens, helping clients move through vulnerable and transitional periods of life with compassion, curiosity, and acceptance.
Throughout her career, Johanna has worked within pediatric hospitals, urgent and primary care clinics, schools, and community mental health organizations. She has also developed and advocated for grief and loss programs for families and supported children transitioning back into school environments following chronic illness and medical challenges.
Her background in child development, attachment, neuroscience, and family-centered care allows her to support clients through both everyday stressors and profound emotional experiences. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals and families navigating the emotional complexities of parenthood, identity shifts, caregiving, and healing.
Originally from the Boston area, Johanna has lived and studied internationally in Paris, London, and Bangkok, experiences that deepened her appreciation for cultural perspectives and holistic wellness practices. She now resides in the Boulder area.
