Kate Homel

Psychotherapy Intern

She, Her, Hers

Psychotherapy fee: $104.

Kate is currently completing her master's degree at Naropa University in Transpersonal Art Therapy. As a clinician she is particularly interested in periods of transition, trauma, and attachment. Kate works from a feminist, client-centered, and trauma-informed approach, listening and validating without judgment while introducing coping skills and self-care.

Kate wholeheartedly believes in the healing power of art, viewing it as a conduit for bringing meaning and purpose into life and the therapeutic process. Kate’s role model, Art Therapist Pat, says, "If you commit yourself to art as a way of knowing, a point will come when certain images appear which are "numinous" or spirit-filled. These images are signposts into the depths of yourself." Kate loves the magic of art therapy and what it can reveal about the self to the self. She believes art making can foster a sense of identity, something that may be lost in transitional periods.

The journey to and through parenthood is complicated and intimate. Kate knows that there are so many things in transition during this time and works to offer support and care for those on this journey. She is committed to creating a nurturing, empowering, and supportive environment for all parents and families in need. Kate looks forward to bringing her passion and compassion to her work with perinatal women and young families at the Parent & Family Wellness Center

Kate's commitment to self-care includes: yoga, making art, spending time in nature, reading, long baths, naps, and spending time with those she loves.
