Staff Psychotherapist

She, Her, Hers

Psychotherapy fee: $155. Sliding scale available.

Joan is a compassionate therapist with an interest and passion for perinatal mental health, who completed her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work in 2021 with a concentration in mental health.

During her time in graduate school, Joan grew her skills through both arts-based therapeutic programming and clinical practice with youth and adults who were incarcerated or facing incarceration. This unique experience gave her an appreciation for the ways systems impact the lives of individuals and families and how the social determinants of health play a vital role in health and wellness. Joan’s interest in the connection between social systems and health led her to a role in Public Health where she works as the Healthy Families Manager overseeing maternal and child health programming for Eagle County Public Health and Environment.

In her role at Eagle County Public Health and Environment, Joan plays a support role in providing care to pregnant women and families with young children. Throughout her time in this role she has deepened her understanding of - and passion for - perinatal mental health and the challenges and celebrations that exist throughout the process of pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and parenting. Joan is thrilled to partner with the Parent & Family Wellness Center to continue to nurture her experience and passion for perinatal mental health. She is currently pursuing a Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health to expand her knowledge of perinatal specific mental health needs.

Joan knows that at the heart of therapeutic growth is empathy, respect and strong relationships, and she aims to make these values a cornerstone in her work with clients. Joan believes that everyone possesses profound innate strength and resilience, and she acknowledges that asking for support is one of the most brave and admirable things one can do. She aims to meet clients where they are at and to deeply honor their own expertise and wisdom.

Joan’s commitment to self-care includes: spending as much time outdoors with her partner, dog, and family as possible - whether that be skiing, biking, camping, or just walking amongst the beautiful scenery that Eagle County has to offer.
