Joan earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work with a concentration in mental health. During graduate school, she gained experience through both arts-based therapeutic programming and clinical work supporting youth and adults who were incarcerated or facing incarceration. These experiences helped deepen her understanding of how systems, social determinants of health, and community support impact emotional well-being and family health.
Her passion for the intersection of mental health, family wellness, and public health eventually led her into maternal and child health programming. Joan currently serves as the Healthy Families Manager for Eagle County Public Health and Environment, where she helps oversee programs supporting pregnant individuals and families with young children. Through this work, she has continued to deepen her understanding of both the challenges and joys that can arise throughout pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, and parenting.
Joan is currently pursuing additional specialized training and certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International to continue expanding her knowledge and ability to support families during these important and vulnerable life stages.
Joan believes every person possesses deep innate resilience and wisdom. She strives to meet clients where they are with compassion, curiosity, and authenticity while honoring the courage it takes to ask for support.
Outside of her clinical work, Joan prioritizes spending time outdoors with her partner, dog, and family. Whether skiing, biking, camping, or simply enjoying the beauty of Eagle County, she deeply values connection with nature and intentional self-care.

If you feel especially drawn to Joan, you are always welcome to mention that during your intake appointment. If appropriate and availability allows, we will always do our best to honor those preferences.
We offer both in-person therapy in Boulder and virtual therapy throughout Colorado.
